S.A Classic Dance Events

Another spectacular “Classic” Event coming your way....Dancers are invited to join us under breathtaking African skies for a  jam-packed weekend of dance at what promises to be THE event in 2016.

Come share the floor with both

two of the most respected and renowned celebrities in the world of Line and Country Couple Dance today...
“Cape Town Classic 2016”
will take place on the weekend of
Friday 16th, Saturday 17th& Sunday 18th September 2016:
at  the “Parow Civic Centre”, Tallent Rd, Glenlily, Parow
Western Cape
This venue holds two halls in which we’ll be running socials and workshops simultaneously accommodating all levels of dancers, competitors and their various preferences!!

Fred and Darren are well known for co-choreographing dances and many of these are danced in South Africa:
Trespassing, Gold (recent), Indian Summer, Limbo, Me U and the Music, One More Chance, Sarah Beth, Sisters, Witness, WTF (What the France)

Some of Fred’s own Choreographies we’ve done:

Down at the Station, Make it Rain, Middle of the Road, Slave 2 the Rhythm, Take me to Church

Darren’s own Choreographies done here:
Hey O, No Diggity Blues, Johnny Got a Boom Boom, Let it be me, Lay low (recent), Little Southern Girl, Holler Back(recent), Go Strait (recent), Unmistakeable, Windy City Waltz, Saku Shake, Skiffle Time, The Fox Linedance, King of Jive, Action, Back it Up, Believe Again, Boogie Wonderland, Countrified Soul, Looking Good

A short Biography on them both:

Fred Whitehouse:
Fred, born and raised in Northern Ireland is a World Champion winning numerous world titles, renowned choreographer, teacher and performer.  He is also one of the “CountryVive” dancers and performs regularly in this popular group which appeared on Britain’s Got Talent 2014.  Fred was also the male lead dancer in the West End production of “Churchill the Musical”.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Fred Whitehouse personally and can say this about him...He is a true gentleman with a great personality and a dancer of note!!  An absoloute pleasure to be around.

Darren Bailey:
Darren is from Wales and numerous South African competitors had the fabulous opportunity of meeting and dancing with Darren in Johannesburg in Feb this year and found him to be a fabulous social personality and extremely professional in what he does.  Dancers benefit tremendously from his expertise, knowledge and phenomenal teaching methods.  Darren is currently helping out with coaching on BBC’s current Strictly Series...a fabulous accolade in itself!  You can follow it all on facebook!

Due to the immense cost involved in bringing TWO international dance celebrities out to South Africa taking our poor currency into consideration at the moment and considering it won’t get much better by next year, we are only able to offer one complete package (no separate “social only” or “workshop only” packages). It will cost only R600 for the full weekend of entertainment, socials and workshops!!! If you break it all down, you’ll realise it’s truly a bargain but even so, we realise that this will seem quite high to some South African dancers and to those I would like to assure you we do not run these events to make a profit out of it, solely to cover all the necessary expenses and to provide South African dancers with a sometimes, once in a lifetime opportunity of sharing the dance floor with choreographers and legends in line whose dances we thoroughly enjoy and at the same time be exposed to a world of dance our overseas counterparts have so many more opportunities of experiencing than we do.  If we work on the minimum amount of dancers we hope will support this event then we only just COVER all expenses.  A friendly suggestion or tip with regards to making it more affordable for dancers which seems to work well here in Cape Town under certain clubs......A person can be appointed in each club, if not the instructor, to be in charge of an “event fund” and ask dancers to pay off their event fee by paying a minimal amount each month leading up to the event.  It really works well as it’s not felt that heavy on the pocket then...Just a suggestion to some clubs who might not already be doing this.

I really hope to see all South African dancers joining in what promises to be an extraordinary event here in South Africa and at the same time learning something of great value from these two exceptional dancers and most certainly experts in their “line” of work.
